Area Information
Fairy Glen is situated at the quieter northern end
of Grasmere village, with parking for 3 cars and its own private
lawned Lakeland garden, terrace area and out door seating; The garden
is certainly a perfect place to take in the views whilst enjoying
a glass of wine in the evening sun. The high fells which provide
Fairy Glens back drop create a silence described as ‘deafening’.
A short level stroll brings you to the village centre. Grasmere
is a charming village in the heart of the Lake District National
Park, situated in a valley surrounded by the lush green slopes of
the Lakeland hills. Lovely old cottages and houses built of the
local blue-green slate sit along side art galleries and shops that
line the twisty streets of the village. The village has a variety
of real ale pubs and restaurants with wonderful cuisine on hand
to suit every palate. Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water lies just to
the south, around which there are some gentle low level walks. For
those that want more strenuous walking Grasmere is ideally located
for the Langdale Pikes, Helvellyn and Scarfell Pikes.
Once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth visitors can see
his two former homes – Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount and Gardens.
At the centre of the village is St. Oswald’s Church which
contains the Wordsworth family graves
Whether you are planning a family holiday, weekend
getaway or an activity based break with friends, our self catering
